Problem Solved!

Nick De Micco of Ronkonkoma says he is happy and relieved after the correction of an error on his property tax bill was finally processed by the Town of Islip.

"I feel great. I'm just glad it's over," De Micco said.

As News 12 first reported earlier in the week, De Micco's tax bill featured a clerical error that was set to cost the Ronkonkoma senior more than $4,000. De Micco says he spoke with various government agencies and offices over the course of months, but failed to get a resolution. But after our initial report, Islip Town Receiver of Taxes Andy Wittman says the Suffolk County legislature expedited the approval process, allowing him to process the correction.

"At the end of the day, everything worked out for Mr. De Micco, and his bill was adjusted and he paid his second half taxes, which was $385 after the adjustment was done," Wittman said.

De Micco says he was glad to see government get it right, and thanked Wittman and News 12's Rich Barrabi for working to solve his problem.

"Without you two guys helping, Andy and you, Rich, I'm sure you made it get done, and it worked, and I'm glad that was done, finally," De Micco said.
