It's a part of Long Island that's a paradise this time of year but many people don't even know about it.
For this week's Road Trip: Close to Home we go back to Fire Island -- to Kismet.
Every community in Fire Island has its own personality but Kimet has a fun, family vibe.
Kismet is the westernmost town on Fire Island, located about a mile and a half from Robert Moses Field 5.
The dock is the central area and has a market to grab groceries or coffee.
There’s also a pizza place and two main restaurants, but the Kismet Inn has been a staple since 1925.
There’s also the Dive – a modern beach bar with a southern California vibe.
Then there’s the fan favorite – Boatel – a hotel where you can drive your boat up to your room. It has 11 different suites with a view of Fire Island lighthouse.
If you like tennis, there are public courts next to a playground, and the beach is dog friendly.
