System brings thunderstorms, flooding threat to LI

A front hitting the tri-state area today is expected to bring showers and a few thunderstorms, some of which may produce flash flooding, gusty winds and small hail.

System brings thunderstorms, flooding threat to LI
The slow-moving storm moved in as part of a thin squall line. The system moved into western Long Island around 3 p.m., and hit the East End shortly after.

Rain fell heavily across Long Island, but lightened up not long after. Some areas around the South Shore faced flooding threats, with about an inch of rain falling.
Overnight lows will be in the low-60s with clearer skies.
