More than a dozen football players at Syosset High School have been suspended for the winter season after it was released that they participated in a hazing ceremony in November.
An internal district memo obtained by Newsday said that at least two players were kicked off the team after a hazing party involving drinking and paddling got out of hand. The suspended players will also be on probation for the spring season.
Many students brushed off the night of initiation, saying that it was common and every school does it. School officials declined comment, citing the protection of students? privacy.
