Long Islanders came together in Port Washington Saturday to learn new ways to be environmentally friendly.
The Port Washington Water District partnered with Re-Wild Long Island to host their second annual Sustainable Garden Tour for more than 100 residents. The goal of the event was to show homeowners how to take care of their lawns using less water and fewer chemicals.
The event featured strategies for composting, growing organic fruit and vegetables and using smart sprinklers.
The Sustainable Garden Tour is also part of the Part Washington Water District's Do It For Port Water Conservation Campaign, a series of educational events that raises awareness for the importance of saving water.
