New Year's Eve festivities have been called off at two villages on Long Island due to the surge of COVID-19 cases.
The mayor of Farmingdale tells News 12 Long Island it canceled the event out an abundance of caution because of the current spike of coronavirus cases.
In Suffolk County, Patchogue officials say they will not hold their "Midnight on Main Street" celebration for the same reason.
