Superintendent: Unloaded handgun confiscated from student at South Side HS

An unloaded handgun was confiscated from a student Friday at South Side High School in Rockville Centre, according to a letter from the superintendent.
Superintendent of Rockville Centre Schools Matthew Gaven says school officials received an anonymous tip after dismissal.
He says school administrators and the director of security located the student and were able to secure the weapon before police arrived and took control of the situation.
Police say the student was taken into custody.
