321ds agoThe Sunset Park community continues to heal one week since the shooting that erupted at 36th Street subway station.
A sign of the healing can be seen at a growing memorial at the entrance to the station where many people have come and put different bouquets of flowers. Still, commuters remain concerned over their safety in the rails.
The memories of last Tuesday morning are still on the minds of the people who were on that train and in the area as smoke filled the Manhattan-bound N train. Police say 10 people were shot during all the chaos and several others were injured.
Danny Pearlstein, the policy and communications director from the New York City Rider Alliance said last Tuesday was terrifying, but commuters must not to lose sight of the things that are needed to improve in the transit system.
Pearlstein recommends faster buses and trains so that commuters don't feel uncomfortable while waiting at stops and stations.
Some commuters said they want a variety of transportation options while others said they are not yet ready to board subway trains again.
Meanwhile, shooting suspect Frank James is currently facing terrorism charges related to the incident.
