Suffolk is kicking off a new initiative to get kids and camp counselors vaccinated before summer camp season begins.
The campaign is #CampVax, with local leaders hoping to incentivize kids 12+ to get their shot with tickets to Splish Splash, Adventureland and the Long Island Aquarium.
"That is our shared goal to eliminate hesitancy, obstacles, and barriers to getting vaccinated," says Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.
Those who get vaccinated are providing tickets that will be raffled off.
Mark Transport, co-owner of Crestwood Country Day Camp, says it's a good idea for parents to have their children vaccinated before camp starts because they often go out on trips.
There will also be a dedicated Pfizer vaccine pod set up at the Dennison Building, and more walk-in locations at Suffolk Community College's Ammerman Campus, Pronto of Long Island in Bay Shore and the Pat-Med Library.
The first 100 people vaccinated will also get a free ice cream cone.
