A Suffolk County high school senior is receiving thousands of dollars in scholarship.
Aidan Carman says he was surprised with the Army Reserve Minuteman Scholarship.
The $40,000 scholarship covers four years of tuition and fees in exchange for eight years of service in the United States Army
"It was very fulfilling," Carman says. "It was very confirming almost, like all the work I put into it. It was good, it was amazing."
Carman will attend Farmingdale State College and the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps in the fall.
He says he plans to study aviation in hopes of becoming a pilot.
