Two dogs are safe after being rescued from deplorable conditions in Valley Stream.

Officials say Joshua Gilbert left his Bay Shore home. A 4-year-old dog and 2-year-old dog were left behind.

The Cane Corsos were confined to a room without enough food or water.

News 12 has been told one of the dogs also gave birth to two puppies while confined and two more later on.

The dogs were taken to the Islip Animal Shelter and will be put up for adoption.
