A Kings Park woman accused of keeping dozens of animals in deplorable conditions has been charged with animal cruelty, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.
Detectives say Cazandra Nucci neglected 11 sugar gliders and nine cats by failing to provide them with a clean or safe environment.
They say they found the animals in an area of hoarded garbage piled as high as 6 feet.
Detectives discovered nine dead sugar gliders, a dead snake, crack cocaine, MDMA and apparent drug paraphernalia inside the home.
Town of Smithtown Code Enforcement also deemed the residence unfit for human occupancy.
Nucci is scheduled to appear in court in Central Islip on Feb. 28.
Officials say the remaining animals will be put up for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter.
