Fifteen sex workers currently behind bars had "credible" encounters with suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann, according to Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon Jr.
He says investigators have spoken to nearly 300 sex workers in Long Island correctional facilities.
This comes after the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation when Heuermann was arrested in July 2023. The reports were then handed over to the Gilgo Beach Task Force.
Heuermann is charged with killing six women.
He has pleaded not guilty.
