Suffolk set to open 3 new testing sites as LI’s 3-day positivity rate hits double digits

Long Island’s three-day positivity rate has ballooned to 10.32% as the Omicron variant continues to spread through both counties.
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone says the positivity rate is 13.7% in Suffolk, the highest rate the county has seen since the early days of the height of the pandemic.
He is using emergency powers to speed up the opening of three new testing sites in Suffolk at Gabreski Airport in West Hampton Beach, in the West Sayville area and in the South Beach area.
The testing sites at Gabreski Airport and in West Sayville will open next Monday. The site in the Sound Beach area will open Jan. 4.
A total of five people died across Long Island on Monday.
