Suffolk police announced Friday a new program aimed at using the media to help catch wanted crooks.
Operation Clean Sweep will make use of newspapers and informational desktop displays to publish the names of people with felony warrants. Police say they currently have 1,100 outstanding warrants in their system, and they hope the effort to reach out to the public will result in more arrests.
Police ask that anyone with information about those with outstanding warrants call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
