Suffolk County police announced Tuesday a new hotline in partnership with LGBT Network.
The goal is to give Long Islanders and New York City residents an outlet for unreported crimes involving the community. It comes as there has been a nearly 7% increase of anti-LGBTQ hate crime incidents in recent years.
The hotline will be open Wednesday for National Coming Out Day.
