Suffolk police say a man was fatally shot late Saturday night while sitting in a car outside his Central Islip home.
Police say Gustavo Godinez-Carcamo was sitting in a parked vehicle his driveway located at 10 Anne Lane when a passenger in the vehicle shot him at 11:52 p.m.
The suspect fled the scene on foot.
Godinez-Carcamo, 40, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.
"I didn't want to go outside to see what happened because maybe the threat was still around," explained neighbor Andy Mata.
