A dozen summonses were issued after Suffolk police say they spotted a group of Ferrari vehicles on the Long Island Expressway.
Police say a highway patrol officer saw the cars traveling at a high rate of speed on the eastbound LIE near Exit 52 around 9 a.m. Sunday. The officer pulled over one of the vehicles, and alerted other officers about the group.
Police say a total of 18 Ferraris were stopped at various locations between exits 52 and 64 on the LIE, as well as on Route 111 in Manorville.
They say 12 summonses were issued -- including 11 for equipment violations such as window tinting and license plate violations. One summons was issued for illegally crossing the HOV lane buffer, police say.
