Suffolk police: 82-year-old woman believed to be dead at funeral home was still breathing

Police say the woman was transported to a Miller Place funeral home Saturday around 1:30 p.m. before it was discovered at 2:09 p.m. that she was still breathing.

Suffolk police say an 82-year-old woman believed to be dead and taken to a funeral home on Saturday was still breathing.
Police say the woman was pronounced dead at 11:15 a.m. at Waters Edge Rehab and Nursing Center in Port Jefferson.
They say that's when she was transported to O.B. Davis Funeral Home in Miller Place around 1:30 p.m.
Police say it was discovered at 2:09 p.m. that she was still breathing.
News 12 Long Island reached out to the funeral home, which issued a statement: “Out of respect for the privacy and confidentiality of the families we are honored to serve, we are not in a position to comment further on this matter.”
The 82-year-old was taken to the hospital and her current condition is unknown.
Police say the case was referred to the New York State Attorney General's office.
