Suffolk police say they arrested four people over the weekend who they say were selling illegal flavored vapes.
Detectives say they found boxes that contained 12,000 illegal vapes being sold at Cloud Nine Smoke Shop in Islip Terrace. An employee was arrested at this location after he sold one of them to an underage police intern on Saturday night, according to police.
Two other smoke shop employees were also arrested on Saturday. Police say they seized illegal vapes from Gary's Smoke Shop in Miller Place and Evolve Smoke Shop in East Setauket.
Investigators say another 10,000 illegal vapes were taken from FMS Smoke Shop in Melville on Friday night. Police arrested the owner of this business.
All of the arrests were part of what Suffolk police are calling "Operation Smoke Out," which was launched in response to community complaints.
