A shooting at a party in Bay Shore Friday night killed a 19-year-old man and injured a 17-year-old girl, Suffolk police say.

It happened at 1320 Ackerson Blvd. around 9 p.m. Police say there were approximately 50 people.

Neighbors told News 12 that the homeowner runs a day care out of the property and was having a farewell party to celebrate it being sold.

Sean Mills was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The injured teen was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

A neighbor also said that she heard a commotion after the shots rang out.

“It was loud enough, I looked outside my window,” she said. “They were all together running, and they were screaming."

Suffolk police did not make any mention of arrests or the events the led up to the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged by Suffolk police to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
