Thirteen people have been arrested for an alleged vehicle theft ring in Suffolk County.
According to the District Attorneys' Office, since February 2023, the group broke into 52 cars, stole 15 of them and took 75 credit cards.
Officials say the suspects used the credit cards to go on shopping sprees before many of the victims even realized their car had been broken into.
News 12 was told over $40,000 was charged to victims.
Those accused are allegedly members of a gang from the Freeport and Hempstead area, known as the cc boys or 5 L.
They are said to have traveled to Suffolk to commit the alleged crimes – and several departments worked together on this extensive investigation that led to the indictments of 13 people.
