News 12 Long Island's Kevin Vesey got a firsthand aerial preview Wednesday of what to expect at this weekend's 15th annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach.
Pilots are practicing their gravity-defying stunts out of Republic Airport in Farmingdale.
That's where the world's best aerobatic pilot Sean Tucker took Vesey for a wild ride.
They reached an acceleration rate upward of 4 Gs as they took to the skies, performing loops and barrel rolls above Robert Moses State Park.
Tucker, a pilot for Team Oracle, has been performing in air shows for more than 40 years. His plane, nicknamed the Ferrari of the Skies, is capable of hairpin turns and pulling up to 10 Gs.
"I'd say the best part might have been when we finally landed safely on solid ground," Vesey admitted afterward.
The air show takes off Saturday and Sunday at Jones Beach.
