A new study found the Nassau Police Department was unable to help nearly 50% of Spanish speaking callers.
The study found nearly 47% of Spanish speakers who called the Nassau Police Department earlier this year to test its language accessibility were unable to get assistance.
Many callers reported being hung up on, told to call 911 or were never connected to someone who spoke their language.
Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says he has not been contacted with issues regarding the Language Access Line.
