Hundreds of students at David Paterson School in Hempstead received new school supplies and backpacks Friday.
It was through a partnership between Optimum, Discovery Channel and Save the Children, a not-for-profit child advocacy organization.
Officials said this donation shows students someone cares about them and wants to help them succeed.
"It's important that we have businesses giving back to the students and this is making sure that every student in here has supplies to continue their learning within the school year," said David Paterson School Principal Keesha Keller.
The donations were given to roughly 500 students in grades 1 through 6.
