Street renaming ceremony held for fallen Marine from Locust Valley

A Locust Valley street was renamed in memory of a Marine who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Many gathered in downtown Locust Valley Saturday as a portion of Forest Avenue was renamed Sgt. Robert Hendriks Way.
Hendriks was killed in Afghanistan on April 8, 2019 when a car filled with explosives ambushed his convoy as it returned from a mission outside of the base.
Hendriks grew up in Locust Valley. Neighbors say he will be forever remembered through the street renaming.
A memorial scholarship fund was also held in his name and it will be awarded to a high school senior.
