Concession stands at some state beaches reopened Sunday on a limited basis.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the decision to reopen concessions was made because they are largely outdoors and are similar to other businesses that are currently operating as part of the New York Forward program.

Cuomo says that his decision was based on facts and science.

Visitors to the concession stands have to adhere to social distancing guidelines and wear masks when appropriate.

The rollout of reopenings will be staggered.

A state parks spokesperson tells News 12 that concession stands at Robert Moses and Sunken Meadow reopened Sunday. The Gatsby on the Ocean restaurant at Jones Beach will also open today, but the concession stand won't start operating until Friday.
