Nassau officials say residents have done a tremendous job at mitigating the coronavirus – reporting only 35 new COVID-19 cases in a 24-hour period.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced that four of the county's six pools will reopen beginning July 3. Those pools include Cantiague Park pool, North Woodmere, Wantagh and Christopher Morley Park.
The county says it is awaiting guidance on reopening the two beach pools at Nickerson.
Additionally, the county announced that it is moving to limit access to county pools to county residents due to the expected reduced capacity that will be in place.
The county reopened under phase two Wednesday – allowing barbershops, in-store retail, outdoor dining, vehicle sales and office jobs to commence at reduced capacity.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says phase 2 accounted for 200,000 jobs across Long Island, and there is concern some of these jobs won't come back.
"We are doing everything we can at the county level to support small businesses and get recovery going," says Curran.
Curran says the state announced guidelines for phase 3 industries, which include indoor dining, personal care services, tattoo shops, massage parlors, spas, cosmetology and nail salons.
