Parents say a foul stench in one Northport school has been an ongoing battle in the district.
They say for the past two years, strange odors have been filling Northport Middle School and making the students sick.
"The coughing was so bad, she could not even gasp for air without vomiting," said parent Lynette O'Dell.
Back in April 2017, teachers and students reported smelling diesel fumes in the building.
The smell was so bad that students were evacuated from that wing of the school.
One month later, an inspection found two dozen hazardous materials were in the building.
People are now reporting a smell in a newly renovated area.
Officials say the smell is due to a new heating and ventilation system. They say indoor air quality inspections were done and no problems were found.
But parents said more needs to be done, so they are planning a "sick out" for Nov. 7 and will hold a peaceful rally outside the school.
