A man accused of causing a deadly crash in Mastic Beach faces 12 charges, including two counts of manslaughter.
On Dec. 22, Suffolk County police say a car traveling 70 mph in a 30 mph zone blew past a stop sign and slammed into a car containing Jean and William Molnar. Surveillance video shows a vehicle T-boning the victims' car.
The driver, Patrick Poillon, is accused of fleeing the scene and leaving the couple and his own passenger.
Vehicular Crimes Bureau Chief Brendan Ahern says Poillon fled on foot and was captured the next day. In Central Islip court Monday, Poillon's attorney pleaded not guilty on all charges.
The passenger in the suspect's car was recovering at Stony Brook University Hospital.
Bail for Poillon was set at $1 million cash or $5 million bond. He's due back in court Feb. 4. If convicted, he could face up to 26 years in prison.
The Molnars left behind four children and two grandchildren.
