LIRR: Person struck by train near Bellport

The Long Island Rail Road says an unauthorized person on the tracks was struck by a train east of Bellport Thursday evening.
The person was not identified and there was no immediate word on their condition.
The incident caused the railroad to temporarily suspend service on the Montauk branch in both directions between Patchogue and Montauk.
Buses were being used to accommodate riders. Customers were being urged to consider taking the Ronkonkoma branch as a possible alternative.
