A Port Jefferson man has been convicted of murdering and mutilating a young woman in 2009.
Evans Ganthier stabbed 24-year-old Rebecca Koster to death back in 2009. Prosecutors say he cut off the Medford woman's fingers and toes, then set her body on fire near Foxwoods in Connecticut in an effort to hide her identity.
Ganthier claims he panicked after Koster tripped and fell on a dumbbell in his garage. He'll be sentenced next month.
