A nasty overnight storm that caused some power outages across Long Island could be just a warmup for utility crews if Hurricane Joaquin heads toward the Northeast.
Nassau Executive Ed Mangano says he is making sure the county is ready for whatever the weather brings.
"We have portable traffic lights. We have more generators. Prepare for the worst, but hope for the best," says Mangano.
PSEG Long Island says crews are checking transmission systems and equipment.
As of Wednesday night, Joaquin had strengthened to a Category 3 hurricane.
