Stop & Shop gives emergency donation of produce to help seniors in need

Stop & Shop donated the supplies to Long Island Cares on Friday. The fruits and vegetables will be delivered to 31 sites across the Island.

An emergency donation is being made to provide food for seniors in need.
Stop & Shop donated the supplies to Long Island Cares on Friday. The fruits and vegetables will be delivered to 31 sites across the Island.
"When they told us of this great need, we had to help, and they told us that produce is exactly what they need, so behind us we have 5 tons of it," says Stefanie Shuman, public relations manager for Stop & Shop's Long Island area.
The donation comes as New York state has still not approved funding for the Commodity Food Supplement Program
