State Sen. Todd Kaminsky is seeking a new office.
Kaminsky announced Monday that he's running to replace Nassau District Attorney Madeline Singas.
"It doesn't matter whether you're Asian, Jewish, Muslim, or LGBT, or a Nassau resident of any stripe. You deserve to walk down your street safely and that's something that my office will continue to ensure," says Kaminsky. "Just like Madeline Singas' office has, I learned from her ... that's the exact policies that we will pursue here."
Singas was appointed to the state Court of Appeals, leaving a vacancy.
Kaminsky, a Democrat, represents Long Beach in the state Senate and was assistant DA under Singas.
Republicans have voiced fears Kaminsky would be too "soft" on crime.
