State police are in Massapequa Park at the home of suspected Gilgo Beach killer Rex Heuermann.
Sources confirm to News 12 that the home is being searched. It is not clear what police are looking for.
Sources also tell News 12 that family members of Heuermann, including his wife Asa Ellerup and their son, were not in the home at the time of the search. According to sources, they were in South Carolina.
However, News 12 has learned his daughter was inside the home at the time the police arrived.
In a statement, the Suffolk District Attorney's Office said: "As District Attorney Tierney has previously stated, the work of the Gilgo Beach Homicide Task Force is continuing. We do not comment on investigative steps while ongoing."
Heuermann has been charged with murder in the killing of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Costello, whose bodies were found buried along the remote beach parkway.
