New York legislators will now consider a bill declaring embryos outside a person not to be a human life.
The bill introduced by state Sen. Jack Martins aims to protect Invitro Fertilization procedures from legal challenges.
The move comes after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that embryos were people in a wrongful death lawsuit.
That move led major IVF providers to halt services.
This new bill would also add the declaration to New York’s Public Health Law.
