New York State is going to spend almost $7 million to extend exit ramps on the Wantagh State Parkway.

The Department of Transportation says crews are already working to make two ramps to Old Country Road longer for people merging.

Both ramps at Exits W2 were built nearly 90 years ago.

They no longer meet modern design standards, the state says.

They will stay open to drivers during construction.

No word yet on when the project will be completed.
