The State Attorney General’s Office has opened an investigation into the death of a man arrested by Suffolk police in August.
Authorities say officers were called to Merritt Avenue in Wyandanch after receiving reports of a possibly drunk individual lying on the ground.
Upon arrival, they found Henry Sanders acting “irrational and agitated.” They say he was banging on the window of a nearby business while naked from the waist down.
Authorities say Sanders became unresponsive after officers subdued and handcuffed him. He was then hospitalized and pronounced dead.
The AG’s office says it is required by law to investigate every police-involved civilian death.
