Mayor Caroline Simmons and Stamford Fire Chief Rex Morris were on hand at Turn of River Fire Station Thursday to highlight the department's reorganization.

In July, the city added a second incident commander to the station. Officials say the addition will improve public safety.

"Adding these deputy chief positions was critical to enhance fire coverage and ensure that we have the proper manpower and personal coverage geographically across our city particularly in the north region," says Simmons. "This was essential for enhancing public safety, improving response time and making sure we have adequate command structure and the proper incident commanders in place."
