A West Babylon woman was charged with animal cruelty for allegedly neglecting her dog.
Suffolk SPCA detectives say Bunnie Smith was arrested after bringing her dog Diamond to the vet. They say Diamond was severely matted and had wounds infested with maggots.
Detectives also say that there was feces in the dog's coat and she was unable to walk.
Smith will be arraigned later this month.
