South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore is one step closer to being new and improved.

The project includes 190,000 square foot pavilion, which will have up to 90 private patient rooms, and 10 operating rooms.

Once it is complete, the hospital will be able to offer a wider variety of procedures.

The project is expected to cost nearly $500 million.
