South Shore University Hospital announces new Women and Children's Center

Doctors say the private NICU rooms foster family bonding, while the infants get around-the-clock monitoring by medical professionals.

Northwell Health unveiled a new hospital wing in Bay Shore.
South Shore University Hospital announced the opening of a Women and Children’s Center. It is two stories, over 45,000 square feet and cost over $71 million to complete.
The renovations include private post-partum suites, a new labor and delivery suite and a private NICU.
Doctors say the private NICU rooms foster family bonding, while the infants get around-the-clock monitoring by medical professionals.
Executive director of South Shore University Hospital Irene Macyk says, “Today’s technology, today’s rooms, the ability to invite your family in during this intimate time is probably the most special thing we can do.”
