To provide some relief from the heat, many community pools around Long Island are extending their hours.
The Town of Hempstead is keeping its 20 pools open until 8 p.m.
Nassau pools at Wantagh Park and Cantiague Park will be open until 7 p.m.
Town pools in Oyster Bay will also see hours extended until 8:30 p.m.
The beaches are also back open after some reached maximum capacity over the weekend.
Jones Beach, Nickerson Beach, Lido, Lido West and Point Lookout - all reached max capacity before noon Sunday. In Suffolk, Sunken Meadow and Robert Moses State Park were also closed.
Beachgoers looking for information on which beaches have reached capacity can download the New York Parks Explorer app. Long Beach's acting police commissioner announced Monday that beaches in the city will close at 8 p.m., and the boardwalk at 9 p.m.
He says the city is also limitng the sale of non-resident daily passes Monday through Thursday, and that the passes won't be sold on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Health officials also recommend staying indoors with air conditioning during the heat wave — especially for anyone who is not in good health.
If you don't feel like taking a dip in the water, you can visit a cooling center.
