Soccer fans hope USA women's team can make history with World Cup threepeat

A Rockville Centre native could be part of history as the USA women's soccer team looks to win their record fifth World Cup.

News 12's Carmen Grant was at Croxley's Ale House as Team USA kicked off the tournament against Vietnam.

Those at the Rockville Centre restaurant watched and cheered on with eyes on Crystal Dunn, who graduated from South Side High School.

Allie D'Antonio was wearing red, white and blue to cheer on the team.

"I think they are great; I think there is a lot that we have to look forward to," D'Antonio says. "I've been waiting for this moment for a while."

In addition to Dunn, fans also acknowledged the dedication of Megan Rapinoe, who announced plans to retire following the tournament.
