The fate of Yankees manager Joe Torre is up in the air Tuesday after the team's 6-4 loss to Cleveland in the American League Division Series playoffs.Cleveland won three out of four games played. Yankees owner George Steinbrenner had said he didn't think he'd bring back Torre unless New York rallied to win the first-round series.
The 77-year-old owner has not spoken publicly since the Game 4 defeat.The Yankees had another major fan letdown in 2004 when the team suffered a meltdown against the Red Sox. The Yankees famously lost four straight games after leading the ALCS 3-0.
Still, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and other fans offered support and kind words for Torre Tuesday.
