Service has been restored this morning on the Ronkonkoma branch of the LIRR after a train crashed into a car on Sunday.
Railroad officials tell News 12 around 5:30 p.m. yesterday the train was evacuated after it collided with the car at the Carleton Avenue crossing in Central Islip.
The car was dragged before bursting into flames.
Officials say everyone inside the car had made it out before the collision.
About 500 passengers were evacuated from the train, and no one was hurt.
It's not clear why the car was on the tracks in the first place.
