Service dog donated to Bellmore family in need

Multiple law enforcement nonprofits stepped up and got the family a 10-month-old yellow Labrador retriever named Sunny at no cost.

A Bellmore family met their new service dog Thursday for the first time.

Sixteen-year-old John Paul Amato, who has autism, struggled when his former service dog Perky died in January. His father, an NYPD highway patrol officer, took to social media asking for help.

Multiple law enforcement nonprofits stepped up and got the family a 10-month-old yellow Labrador retriever named Sunny at no cost.
