If a new park is constructed, senior living residents worry they will have limited ways to get in and out of their senior housing development in Shirley.
According to the town of Brookhaven, 98.8 acres will be used for parkland.
Resident Susan Cozzolino says she sees her fair share of emergency vehicles coming down that road, seeing as how they are an older community.
Other residents fear that construction vehicles combined with the additional traffic of park goers could block or slow emergency vehicles that need access once the park opens.
Town officials issued a statement saying in part,"Brookhaven officials have met with residents in the community regarding their concerns about this dedicated road, which was part of the comprehensive planning process. The Town will take into consideration all comments and suggestions to the residents, but Colony Preserve Drive is a Town of Brookhaven road."
There is no word yet on when exactly construction is expected to begin.
