Selmer’s Pet Land in Huntington Station is closing after 84 years of serving Long Island.
The family-owned pet store made the announcement Wednesday on various social media outlets. The owners of the pet store said their official closing date will be Dec. 18, 2023.
In a statement, the Selmer family and staff said “As for our beloved pets, we have been dedicated to caring for them for 84 years and will continue to do so until they all find their forever homes. We appreciate your kindness through this difficult time.”
They said "unforeseen circumstances" and difficulties of being a small family-owned business are the reasons for its closure.
The pet store also says they will be offering 30% off everything up until their closure date.
